Duck & Waffle, Bishopsgate

Duck and Waffle is the highest restaurant in the UK, situated  on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower. I had heard so many amazing things about the food and views, particularly their brunch menu so I booked a table for my mum for her mothers day present. We were hoping we would get a nice clear day so we could appreciate the London landscape at its best. Sadly the English weather wasn’t entirely on our side, but we weren’t disappointed. It definitely lived up to the hype.

Throwback Thursday, Turning 21

This year has gone so fast. I know it is hideously clichéd to say but 2015 is flying by, we have one week left of April and it feels more like four minutes than 4 months since January. So I thought I would write a series of post summarising this year so far, more than anything to make sure I don’t forget just how incredible it has been so far. As my 21st birthday lead to the most memorable few weeks of my life I thought it would be a good place to start.

Sunny Sunday, London

It is a fact universally acknowledge that the best way to start a Sunny Sunday in London is undoubtedly with a giant stack of pancakes, preferably with a side of bacon and an extra generous smoothing of maple syrup. As this weekend was extra sunny, it only seemed to visit My Old Dutch.  is one of  my favourite pancake haunts, as they offer a huge selection of savory and sweet pancakes, and is conveniently located a short walk from my house on Kensington Church Street, less than 5 minutes from High Street Kensington tube station. The interior is really, light, bright and fun making it the ideal spot for a sunny Sunday morning in the city.

Spring Salad, Holland Park

For the last few days in London have felt more high August than April, we’ve had cloudless skies and temperatures over 20°C. The whole city seems to be celebrating (in beer gardens) after work! My flatmate and I decided to make the most of thia surprise heatwave by eating alfresco. As we live in a flat and are resoundingly garden-less we made a salad-to-go to take to the park.

Soggy Sunday, London

If you read my post on Ffiona’s Restaurant, you might have seen my pledge to stop taking living in London for granted. It is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and you can end up going and doing the same things week-in week-out and overlook all the amazing things to do and see on your doorstep. It seemed however, that we weather was yet again set against us as we faced another rainy, Soggy Sunday. We decided to toughen up and after a short shopping spree on Oxford street we embarked on our afternoon walk through West London. We took (what was meant to be) a short cut through the Burlington Arcade down to Piccadilly, but ended up spending quite a long time ogling at the beautiful window displays and finding it very hard to tear ourselves away.

Passionfruit Pavlova, Bristol

At the start of the Easter break I took a trip down Bristol to stay with my BEST friend. It was her Dad’s birthday and we were faced with the challenge of making a Birthday-cake for someone who hates cake… So we decided to make a Birthday- Pavlova. The first mistake we made was thinking meringue was easy to make, we looked at so many recipes:  The Londoner’s, Mary Berry’s and Nigella’s for inspiration.  The first problem we discovered is there’s a lot of contradictory advice when it comes to creating the perfect meringue, but we think we might have cracked it … pardon the pun.

image1I feel obliged to disclose at this point that this successful meringue was our third attempt and was completed at 1 O’Clock in the morning. Continue reading

Buttermilk Pancakes at Ffionas, Kensington

One of the worst and most common habits of people living in London, is forgetting they live in London. Or at least forgetting to make the most of living in one of the world’s most exciting and beautiful cities. This Sunday my flatmate and I decided we needed to break the habit and enjoy walking the streets of London and taking in a little more of what it has to offer. Unfortunately, in true British style, it decided to rain. And I mean REALLY rain so we took refuge in Ffiona’s, a restaurant on Kensington Church Street in Kensington that serves the best brunch in London.

Mason House, Argyll Street

2015 has been the best year of my life (so far). I’ve been so busy and had so many plans it seems to have  flown by. This week was the first this year that I have not had something organised or pre-booked. I was expecting a quiet few days where I caught up on washing and finished the book I’m reading, but it turned out to be so much fun.On Friday night we went for dinner and drinks at Mason House on Argyll Street (Just off Regents street).

W14’S Work-Out Plan, Sorry Kanye

I recently read a blog post on Britton Loves, ‘Easy Ways to Work-out’, being the type of person who find motivation to work out hard to come by I was instantly drawn to it. I felt relieved that other people felt the same way as me, that not everyone find excise as easy as all the beautiful fitness models you can’t escape from on Instagram. One of the most poignant messages of the post is that it is essential to ” Find a workout style to suit you”, just because half the people in your office “can’t get enough of Spin class” and the other half run a marathon every weekend.
